Histoire
Le stade a été inauguré le 9 juin 2011 lors du match opposant les franchises de Major League Soccer du Sporting Kansas City et de Chicago Fire. Le stade a une capacité de 18 467 spectateurs, qui peut être étendue à 25 000 selon les évènements. Le 8 mars 2011, un accord de naming intervient avec l'association de lutte contre le cancer Livestrong, fondée par l'ancien coureur cycliste américain Lance Armstrong[2]. Le stade accueille deux rencontres de la Gold Cup 2011 de football le 14 juin 2011[3].
Premier match
Le premier match officiel dans le stade a eu lieu le 9 juin 2011 et opposait deux équipes de la Major League Soccer, soit le Sporting Kansas City et le Chicago Fire. Pour l'occasion, 19 925 spectateurs assistaient à la rencontre. Le score final fut nul 0 à 0.

Children's Mercy Park is a soccer-specific stadium in Kansas City, Kansas, United States, and is the home of Sporting Kansas City. The stadium is located near Kansas Speedway, on the far west side of Wyandotte County, Kansas. It opened during the 2011 season of Major League Soccer on June 9, 2011 with a match against the Chicago Fire.[9] The stadium has a seating capacity of 18,467 seats, which can expand to 25,000 for concerts. Most SKC games attract around 21,000 because of different stadium modes.[3] The stadium is Sporting Kansas City's third home venue; then known as the Kansas City Wizards, the team played in Arrowhead Stadium from 1996 to 2007 and CommunityAmerica Ballpark from 2008 to 2010.
