Arthur Shaw (9 April 1924 – 2 November 2015) was an English professional footballer who played as a wing half in the Football League for Brentford, Arsenal and Watford.

Career

Born in Limehouse, Shaw made a total of 64 appearances in the Football League for Brentford, Arsenal and Watford.[1][2] He also played non-League football for Southall, Hayes and Gravesend & Northfleet.[3] Shaw made 25 league appearances during Arsenal's 1952–53 First Division championship-winning season.[4][5] A flag bearing his name flies in tribute on the Ken Friar Bridge, close to Arsenal tube station.[6]

Arthur Shaw (* 9. April 1924 in Limehouse, England; † 2. November 2015 in Hermosa Beach, Kalifornien, Vereinigte Staaten) war ein englischer Fußballspieler. Auf vielen Positionen einsetzbar, war er vor allem für seine Zeit zwischen 1948 und 1955 beim FC Arsenal bekannt. Dort gewann er 1953 die englische Meisterschaft und trug mit 25 Einsätzen auf der rechten Außenläuferposition maßgeblich zum Erfolg bei.
