Charles Kincaid Mackenzie, Lord Mackenzie LLD (18571938) was a 19th/20th century Scottish law lord who served as a Senator of the College of Justice. He is also remembered as a cricketer.

He was born on 8 March 1857. He was educated at Repton School.

He studied law at Oxford University, there playing for the university cricket team.[1]

He appears in Edinburgh around 1885 as an advocate at 57 Northumberland Street.[2] In 1895 he is listed as an advocate living at 47 Heriot Row.[3]

In 1905 he was listed as a King's Counsel (KC) still living at 47 Heriot Row in New Town, Edinburgh.[4]

In December 1905 he was elected a Senator of the College of Justice replacing James Adam, Lord Adam.[5]

He died in Edinburgh on 1 April 1938.[6] He is buried in the churchyard of St John's, Edinburgh on Princes Street, close to his home on Heriot Row.[7] The grave is on the lowest terrace backing onto St Cuthbert's churchyard. The monument is damaged and is missing its stone cross. Only the base remains but the inscription is clear.


Family


He was married to Miss Lillian (Lily) Young (1854-1945) of Gullane, daughter of George Young, Lord Young, Lord Advocate of Scotland.

He was father to Mark Kincaid Mackenzie (1888-1914) who played first-class cricket for Oxford University and was killed in the First Battle of the Aisne.[8]
