Craig Douglas Muni (born July 19, 1962) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 819 National Hockey League (NHL) games over the course of his career.

Playing career


As a youth, Muni played in the 1975 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Toronto.[1]

Known as a defensive specialist, open ice hitter, penalty killer and a shot blocker, Muni won three Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers in 1987, 1988, and 1990 and also played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets.[2] He retired in 1998. He led the league three times in Plus Minus while a member of the Oilers.


Coaching career


On June 25, 2016, he was named the co-head coach of the NWHL's Buffalo Beauts, sharing duties with former NHL player Ric Seiling.[3]

Craig Douglas Muni (* 19. Juli 1962 in Toronto, Ontario) ist ein ehemaliger kanadischer Eishockeyspieler und -scout sowie derzeitiger -trainer, der im Verlauf seiner aktiven Karriere zwischen 1979 und 1998 unter anderem 832 Spiele für die Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres, Winnipeg Jets, Pittsburgh Penguins und Dallas Stars in der National Hockey League auf der Position des Verteidigers bestritten hat. Muni gewann während seiner 16 Spielzeiten in der NHL insgesamt dreimal den Stanley Cup – in den Jahren 1987, 1988 und 1990 allesamt mit den Edmonton Oilers. Zwischen 2016 und 2018 betreute er gemeinsam mit Ric Seiling als Cheftrainer die Buffalo Beauts aus der National Women’s Hockey League, mit denen er 2017 den Isobel Cup errang.
