Isidro Sánchez Macip (born June 5, 1987) is a former professional soccer player who played as a midfielder. Born in Mexico, he represented the Canada national under-23 team.

Career


Sánchez began his career 2006 in his hometown with Club Puebla. His first game for the club came in the Primera División de México - Apertura 2007.[1]

Sánchez took over as manager of the Las Vegas Lights FC in the United Soccer League after his father José Luis Sánchez Solá stepped down in September 2018. He was informed his services were no longer required in October 2018 when the club decided it required a change in leadership.[2]

On 20 November 2018, Sánchez was named as manager of Tlaxcala F.C. in the Liga Premier de México.[3] On June 19, 2019 he was appointed by Puebla as methodology assistant.[4]


International career


Sánchez was a member of Canada's Olympic team pursuing a place at the Beijing games in 2008.[5]


Personal life


Both parents were born in Puebla. Sánchez's father, José Luis Sánchez Solá, was also a footballer, but he never played professionally. Sánchez's mother got her Canadian citizenship after living in Canada for five years, allowing Sánchez to do likewise. He is nicknamed Pidri.

Isidro Sánchez Macip ( Puebla, México, 5 de junio de 1987) es un exfutbolista y entrenador mexicano con nacionalidad canadiense que jugó como centrocampista para el Puebla F.C.. Es hijo del entrenador José Luis Sánchez Solá. Adquirió la nacionalidad canadiense en 2007, para participar con la selección pre-olímpica de ese país, en el torneo clasificatorio de la Concacaf, previo a los Juegos Olímpicos de Beijing.[1][2] Solo jugó un corto periodo como futbolista, y para el 2015, obtuvo un cargo como auxiliar técnico en el equipo de Real Cuautitlán, actualmente se hizo cargo de dirigirlos y sacar al equipo de la zona de descenso.
