J'Neil Bennett was born in London and grew up in Camden, attending Haverstock School. He first played football for Queens Park Rangers, before joining Tottenham's academy.[4]
During his stay at the academy, Bennett proved to be one of Spurs' brightest prospects. He scored the first ever goal at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 24 March 2019, during a 3–1 win against Southampton's under-18.[5][6][7] After being a prolific goalscorer with the under-18, the young winger also impressed with the under-19, in the UEFA Youth League, later joining the club's under-23.[8][4]
Just a few days after scoring a goal in a 2–2 draw against Chelsea's youth in Premier League 2,[9] Bennett made his professional debut for Tottenham Hotspur on the 19 August 2021 during a 1–0 away loss against Paços de Ferreira, replacing Ryan Sessegnon in the 81st minute.[10][11]
On 31 August 2021, Bennett joined EFL League One side Crewe Alexandra on loan until January 2022.[12] In his second appearance for the Railwaymen, Bennett's first-half cross forced an own goal, and he later broke away to score his first professional goal, and Crewe's second goal, in a 2–0 victory over Burton Albion at Gresty Road on 18 September 2021.[13] In November 2021, Bennett suffered an ankle injury that ruled him out of the rest of his Crewe loan spell, so he returned to Spurs for treatment and rehabilitation.[14]
J'Neil Bennett is a youth international with England, making his under-18 debut in 2018.[4]
