Battaglia started his career in 1977, in Paraguayan side Nacional before moving to Cerro Porteño. He then was part of a ten-year-long career at Colombian club América de Cali, from 1984 to 1989, where he helped the team win several national championships and becoming a fan-favorite.[1]

Juan Manuel Battaglia Melgarejo (Asunción, Paraguay, 11 de junio de 1957) es un exfutbolista y actual entrenador paraguayo que se desempeñaba en la posición de mediocampista o delantero. Actualmente dirige al Atyrá Fútbol Club de la División Intermedia de Paraguay. Durante su permanencia como jugador del América de Cali, adoptó la nacionalidad colombiana.
