Kovács played most of his career at MTK Budapest FC in 1945–1957.[1]
He played five matches for Hungary in 1948–1951.[2]
He coached several clubs in Hungary such as Vác Izzó and SZEOL AK, and had also coached Ismaily SC in Egypt in the 1960s.[1]
His brother, Imre, was also a footballer.[3]
