In October 2022, he got selected to play for India in ODI series against South Africa.[1]
Early life
Mukesh Kumar gave Central Reserve Police Force exam 3 times after his graduation. His father wanted him to do a government job. He got job in CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General office) department for being a First class cricketer. As per him, his father did not believe, he was good enough to play professional level cricket until he played Ranji trophy for West Bengal.[5]
Domestic career
Mukesh Kumar played club cricket for East Bengal club and Barrackpore Bashers. He played List A, First class cricket for Bengal, Rest of India team and India A.[4]
Mukesh did his Ranji trophy (first-class) debut against Haryana team at Rohtak on 30 Oct 2015. He did List-A cricket debut against Uttarpradesh at Rajkot on 13 December 2015. Mukesh did his T20 debut against Gujrat at Nagapur on 6 January 2016. As of 3 October 2022, he played all formats for West Bengal.[6]
He took 5 wickets in an innings against New Zealand A team.[1]
International Cricket career
In 2022 Mukesh Kumar got selected to play versus South Africa cricket team in ODI series. He got to know he has been selected for India, when he got added in Indian cricket team's WhatsApp group.[7]
