Narek Abgaryan (born 6 January 1992) is an Armenian boxer.[1] He competed in the men's flyweight event at the 2016 Summer Olympics.[2]

In October 2016, Narek Abgaryan made a successful debut at the professional level. He performed mainly in Russia, Spain, the USA. Within three years, he won 13 victories in a row, including winning the vacant title of silver international champion in the bantamweight division according to the World Boxing Council (WBC). His record is 15 wins and 1 loss according to the BoxRec.
He first made himself known in boxing in 2008, winning a bronze medal at the European Cadet Championship in Plovdiv.
Since 2011, he has been boxing at an adult level in the main team of the Armenian national team. He visited the European Championship in Ankara, where he was defeated by Bulgarian Stefan Ivanov in the 1/8 finals of the flyweight category.
In 2012, he became the bronze medalist of the international Gee-Bee tournament in Helsinki and the youth European championship in Kaliningrad - here he lost to the Russian Vasily Vetkin in the semifinals.
In 2013, he participated in the European Championship in Minsk and the World Championship in Alma-Ata, won a silver medal at the Governor's Cup in St. Petersburg - in the decisive final match he lost to Uzbek Murodjon Akhmadaliev.
In 2015, he won the Armenian flyweight championship, received silver at the Levintsev Memorial in Minsk, and reached the quarterfinals at the European Games in Baku.
At the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in Samsun, he managed to reach the final and thus won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. At the Games in the category up to 52 kg, he successfully passed the first opponent in the tournament grid, while in the second fight in the 1/8 finals, by unanimous decision, he was defeated by the Chinese Hu Jianguan, who eventually became the bronze medalist of this Olympic tournament.
In 2017, he was noted for his performance at the European championship in Kharkiv, where he lost to the Spaniard Gabriel Escobar in the 1/8 finals of the flyweight.
