Roman Anatoliyovych Butenko (30 March 1980 – 30 November 2012) was a Ukrainian professional footballer who played as a midfielder.

In 2001 Butenko moved to the Ukrainian First League club Polissya Zhytomyr.
In January 2008 Butenko moved to Metalist Kharkiv. He played initially for the reserves squad, but was promoted by head coach Myron Markevych to the senior squad in the beginning of the 2008–09 season.[1] Butenko played 1 match for Metalist Kharkiv in the Ukrainian Premier League.
On 30 November 2012 Butenko died in a car accident.[2]
