Preston made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2022 Melbourne Summer Set 2, where she received a wildcard into the doubles draw partnering Alexandra Osborne. She also received a wildcard into the qualifying draw for the 2022 Melbourne Summer Set 1, where she defeated former French Open finalist Sara Errani in the first round, before falling to Destanee Aiava in the final qualifying round.[2][3]
In January 2022, Preston lost in the second round of the 2022 Australian Open – Women's singles qualifying.[4]
Preston defeated former World number 5, Sara Errani in the first round of qualifying in the Melbourne Summer Set 1. She then lost to fellow Australian, Destanee Aiava in the final round of qualifying.
