Participó en tres Juegos Olímpicos de Verano, entre los años 1976 y 1996, obteniendo en total tres medallas: plata en Montreal 1976, en la prueba por equipos (junto con Karl Schultz, Helmut Rethemeier y Otto Ammermann), y dos medallas en Barcelona 1992, plata en la prueba individual y bronce por equipos (con Ralf Ehrenbrink, Matthias Baumann y Cord Mysegages).[1]

Ganó cuatro medallas en el Campeonato Mundial de Concurso Completo entre los años 1974 y 1990, y cuatro medallas en el Campeonato Europeo de Concurso Completo entre los años 1973 y 1999.[2]

Herbert Blöcker (1 January 1943 – 15 February 2014) was a German equestrian and 3-time Olympic medalist.[1] He was born in Schleswig-Holstein. He won a silver medal at the Olympics in Fontainebleau in 1980 following by winning another silver in eventing at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. During the same Olympic games, he won a bronze medal also in the team event. He also participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.[2] In 2008, both he and his Olympic horse, "Feine Dame", were inducted into the International Association of Eventing Hall of Fame. Blöcker died of cancer on 15 February 2014 at the age of 71 in Elmshorn.[3]
