Nikolaus Balkenhol –conocido como Klaus Balkenhol– (Velen, 6 de diciembre de 1939) es un jinete alemán que compitió en la modalidad de doma. Su hija Anabel también compite en el mismo deporte.

Participó en dos Juegos Olímpicos de Verano, obteniendo en total tres medallas: dos en Barcelona 1992, oro en la prueba por equipos (junto con Nicole Uphoff, Monica Theodorescu e Isabell Werth) y bronce en la individual, y una medalla de oro en Atlanta 1996, por equipos (con Martin Schaudt, Monica Theodorescu e Isabell Werth).[1]
Ganó dos medallas en el Campeonato Mundial de Doma de 1994 y cuatro medallas en el Campeonato Europeo de Doma entre los años 1991 y 1995.[2]

Klaus Balkenhol (born 6 December 1939 in Velen) is a German equestrian and Olympic champion. He won a gold medal in team dressage at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona with the team from Germany. Balkenhol is the author of several dressage books. He is an avid member of Xenophen, and like Philippe Karl petitions against the use of rollkur. Balkenhol's earlier riding career consisted of being a mounted policeman. He was also the coach of the U.S. Olympic team.[1] He also received a gold medal with the German team in 1996.[2] At present Balkenhol is the trainer of Olympic equestrian Laura Bechtolsheimer.- [es] Klaus Balkenhol
