Carrière

Champion d'Angleterre des lourds-légers en 1989 puis champion d'Europe EBU en 1990 et 1997, il devient champion du monde WBO de la catégorie le 27 mars 1999 en battant par arrêt de l'arbitre à la 5^e reprise son compatriote Carl Thompson[1]. Nelson conserve 13 fois sa ceinture avant d'annoncer sa retraite le 22 septembre 2006.

Ivanson Ranny Nelson (* 4. Januar 1967 in Sheffield), besser bekannt unter dem Namen Johnny Nelson, ist ein ehemaliger britischer Profiboxer im Cruisergewicht. Er war Britischer Meister (BBBofC) und Europameister (EBU), sowie von März 1999 bis September 2006 Weltmeister der WBO. Zudem war er WM-Herausforderer der WBC und IBF, sowie Titelträger der WBF und WBU.

Ivanson Ranny "Johnny" Nelson[1] (born 4 January 1967) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1986 to 2005, and has since worked as a boxing analyst. He is currently the longest reigning world cruiserweight champion of all time, having held the WBO title from 1999 to 2005. Nelson defended the title against thirteen different fighters, more than any other cruiserweight in history, and holds a joint-record of most consecutive cruiserweight title defences (along with Marco Huck). Nelson also held the British cruiserweight title twice between 1989 and 1997, and the European cruiserweight title twice between 1990 and 1998.
