Carrière

Passé professionnel en 2011, il remporte le titre vacant de champion du monde des poids super-plumes IBF après sa victoire aux points contre Andrey Klimov le 13 juin 2015[1]. Pedraza conserve son titre aux points le 3 octobre 2015 contre Edner Cherry puis le 16 avril 2016 contre Stephen Smith. Il est en revanche battu par arrêt de l'arbitre au 7^e round par Gervonta Davis le 15 janvier 2017.

Le 25 août 2018 à Glendale en Arizona, Pedraza s'empare de la ceinture WBO des poids légers détenue par Raymundo Beltrán après un succès aux points[2]. Le 8 décembre 2018, il affronte Vasyl Lomachenko, champion WBA de la catégorie, et s'incline aux points.

José Pedraza González (born May 8, 1989) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer and former two-weight world champion. He held the IBO super featherweight title in 2014, the IBF super featherweight title from 2015 to 2017, and the WBO lightweight title in 2018. As an amateur he represented Puerto Rico, winning medals in multiple international competitions. Among the awards he achieved are a bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games, silver at the 2009 World Championships and gold at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games, as well as participation in the 2008 Summer Olympics. As of June 2021, he is ranked as the world's eighth best active super lightweight by BoxRec.[1]
