Biographie

Jouant comme attaquant, Odilon Polleunis remporte le Soulier d'or belge en 1968 avec Saint-Trond VV. Il rejoint le RWD Molenbeek en 1973[1]. Dans le club bruxellois, il joue 82 matches officiels en trois saisons et remporte le championnat de Belgique en 1975.

Il compte 22 sélections avec les Diables Rouges pour 9 buts marqués entre 1968 et 1975[2].

Avec la Belgique, il participe à la Coupe du monde de football 1970, au Mexique. Il est remplaçant lors du match contre le Salvador (3-0), ne joue pas contre l'URSS (1-4) et est titulaire contre le Mexique (0-1).

Il a aussi participé à l'Euro 1972, en Belgique. Il réduit l'écart à la 83^e minute de jeu en demi-finale contre la RFA pour une défaite (1-2), mais prend la troisième place à l'Euro 1972.

Odilon Polleunis (born 1 May 1943), nicknamed Lon, is a Belgian football player who won the Belgian Golden Shoe in 1968 while at Sint-Truiden. He played 22 matches and scored 10 goals for the national team between 1968 and 1975, starting in a 1–2 friendly win against the Netherlands on 7 April 1968. Polleunis scoring on his debut and the first of his 7 goals in his first 5 Internationals, including a hat-trick against Finland and two against Yugoslavia in World Cup qualifiers in October 1968. At the Mexico World Cup in 1970 Polleunis came on as sub in Belgium's win against El Salvador and started against Mexico in the third game replacing Raoul Lambert. In the mid-1970s, "Lon" moved to RWDM.
