Carrière

Passé professionnel en 1936, il remporte le titre vacant de champion du monde des poids plumes NBA (National Boxing Association) le 15 mai 1940 après sa victoire par arrêt de l'arbitre au 6^e round contre Frankie Covelli[1]. Scalzo conserve son titre face à Bobby Ivy et Phil Zwick mais s'incline par KO au 5^e round contre Richie Lemos le 1^er juillet 1941. Il met un terme à sa carrière en 1943 sur un bilan de 90 victoires, 15 défaites et 6 matchs nuls.

Petey Scalzo (1917-1993) was an American boxer from Hell's Kitchen, New York. He was declared the National Boxing Association Featherweight Championship of the World on May 1, 1940, two weeks prior to winning a sixth-round technical knockout over Frankie Covelli on May 15, 1940. The NBA had withdrawn the world featherweight championship from Joey Archibald the previous month for his refusal to fight leading contenders, including Scalzo.
