È stato campione EBU ed IBF International dei pesi massimi. Il fratello Tervel è anch'egli pugile.

Carriera professionale

Pulev compie il suo debutto da professionista il 19 settembre 2009, sconfiggendo il romeno Răzvan Benche via KO tecnico alla seconda ripresa.

Il 15 novembre 2014 Pulev ha finalmente l'opportunità di conquistare un titolo iridato, quando sfida l'allora campione in carica Volodymyr Klyčko per la corona IBF dei pesi massimi. Nonostante la sua grande determinazione, il bulgaro subisce l'iniziativa dell'avversario per tutta la durata dell'incontro e viene atterrato per tre volte, prima di soccombere per KO al quinto round.[1]

Il 7 aprile 2016 sconfigge per decisione non unanime il britannico Dereck Chisora.

Il 13 dicembre 2020, all'età di 39 anni, sfida Anthony Joshua per il titolo mondiale dei pesi massimi, ma viene sconfitto per KO alla nona ripresa.[2]

Kubrat Wenkow Pulew (auch Kubrat Venkov Pulev geschrieben, bulgarisch Кубрат Венков Пулев; * 4. Mai 1981 in Sofia, Bulgarien) ist ein bulgarischer Profiboxer und ehemaliger Europameister der EBU, International Champion der IBF und Intercontinental Champion der WBA im Schwergewicht. 2014 und erneut 2020 boxte er als Herausforderer um die WM-Titel der WBA, IBF, WBO und IBO, verlor dabei jedoch gegen Wladimir Klitschko bzw. Anthony Joshua.

Kubrat Venkov Pulev (Bulgarian: Кубрат Венков Пулев; born 4 May 1981) is a Bulgarian professional boxer. He has challenged twice for the unified heavyweight title in 2014 and 2020. At regional level, he has held multiple heavyweight championships, including the European title twice between 2012 and 2016. As an amateur, he won multiple medals at international tournaments, including gold at the 2008 European Championships and bronze at the 2005 World Championships, all in the super-heavyweight division. He also represented Bulgaria at the 2008 Olympics.
