Carriera professionistica
New York Giants
Dopo una promettente carriera nella Morehead State University, Simms viene selezionato dai New York Giants come settimo assoluto nel Draft NFL 1979[1]. Simms trascorrerà la sua intera carriera professionale con i Giants, e viene nominato Most Valuable Player (MVP) del Super Bowl XXI, dopo aver portato i Giants ad una vittoria di 39 a 20 con i Denver Broncos, oltre ad aver segnato il record per più alta percentuale di completamento in un Super Bowl, con 22 su 25[2]. Simms è stato anche nominato per il Pro Bowl per le performance nella stagione del 1985 e del 1993.
Ha concluso la sua carriera nel 1993 e da allora ha intrapreso una carriera televisiva di commentatore delle partite della NFL per la CBS.
Phil Simms è il padre di Chris Simms e Matt Simms, entrambi giocatori di football.

Phillip Martin Simms (born November 3, 1955) is an American former football quarterback who spent his entire 15-year professional career playing for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He is currently a television sportscaster for the CBS network. After playing college football at Morehead State University, Simms was drafted in the first round by the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL) with the number seven selection overall in the 1979 NFL Draft. Simms was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of Super Bowl XXI, after he led the Giants to a 39–20 victory over the Denver Broncos and set the record for highest completion percentage in a Super Bowl, completing 22 of 25 passes (88%), a record that still stands.[1] He also was named to the Pro Bowl for his performances in the 1985 and 1993 seasons.[es] Phil Simms
