Partecipò alle gare di nuoto della III Olimpiade di St. Louis del 1904 e vinse una medaglia di argento nella staffetta 4x50 iarde stile libero, con la Chicago Athletic Association. Partecipò anche ai 50 iarde stile libero, arrivando terzo in semifinale.

Morì in un incidente stradale a Los Angeles, California, nel 1921.

Raymond Comstock Thorne (April 29, 1887 – January 10, 1921) was an American competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri.[1] In the 1904 Olympics he won a silver medal as a member of American 4x50 yard freestyle relay team and was sixth in the 50 yards swimming. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and died in a car crash in Los Angeles, California.[2]
