Carriera

Nel 2021 ha vinto la medaglia d'oro nella velocità a squadre, assieme ai compagni di nazionale Harrie Lavreysen, Jeffrey Hoogland e Matthijs Büchli, ai Giochi olimpici di Tokyo.[1] Con Lavreysen e Hoogland detiene, in 41"225, il record del mondo della disciplina, realizzato a Berlino nel corso della finale dei campionati del mondo del 2020.[2] Tra il 2012 e il 2015 aveva abbandonato la carriera su pista per dedicarsi alla BMX (suo primo sport fino al 2009) e al calcio, giocando come terzino destro dopo aver perso 18 chili di peso.[3]

Roy van den Berg (born 8 September 1988) is a Dutch track cyclist, who most recently rode for UCI Track Team BEAT Cycling Club.[1] He was a part of a team that won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer olympics in the team sprint event, setting the new Olympic record in the finals. He also competed at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 2010, 2011, 2012,[2] 2019 and 2020 and won the silver medal at the 2016 UEC European Track Championships in the sprint.[3]
