Biografia
Nato a San Diego da padre francotedesco e madre taiwanese, proviene da una famiglia di atleti e calciatori: il padre Stefan fu aspirante decatleta, mentre il bisnonni Richard (altresì discobolo, pesista e giavellottista multititolato)[1] e Johann Hoffmann furono calciatori di discreto successo in Europa.[2]
Frequenta l'Università statale della California, Long Beach e quindi l'Università statale di San Diego, dove pratica con successo lo sport del golf. Nel 2014 batte il connazionale Hossler aggiudicandosi il campionato amatoriale della California al prestigioso La Costa Resort & Spa, prima di essere sconfitto dallo stesso nella contesa finale del Western Amateur qualche mese dopo.[3] I risultati a livello dilettantistico gli valgono l'ingresso nella Top 10 del ranking amatoriale mondiale prima del suo passaggio al professionismo nel 2015.[4][5][6]. Alexander Victor Schauffele (/ˈzændər ˈʃaʊfəleɪ/; born October 25, 1993) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour, having won seven times since turning professional in 2015. Schauffele's best major finish is tied second at both the 2018 Open Championship and the 2019 Masters. Schauffele also has a win on the European Tour.
