L'Estadio Nacional est un stade situé à Lima, la capitale du Pérou, d'une capacité de 39 305 places assises auxquelles il faut rajouter le complexe de balcons supérieurs pouvant abriter quelques milliers de personnes supplémentaires[1]. Inauguré le , il a notamment accueilli trois des six éditions de la Copa América organisées dans le pays, rénové de 2010 à 2011 changeant son aspect extérieur mais en conservant la tour historique de la tribune nord. Il est aussi nommé Estadio Coloso de José Díaz en référence à la rue où il est situé. La sélection nationale péruvienne y joue ainsi que certains clubs dans le cadre de finales. L'Instituto Peruano del Deporte (l'Institut péruvien du sport) est propriétaire du stade, qui possède une piste olympique d'athlétisme. Le stade est le troisième en termes de capacité dans la ville de Lima, derrière l'Estadio Monumental et l'Estadio Universidad San Marcos.

Histoire
: À la suite d'un mouvement de foule dans les tribunes, 320 personnes décèdent au cours d'un match Pérou - Argentine. Il y a aussi un millier de blessés. Les portes du stade étant fermées, les supporters ne peuvent pas s'échapper et meurent piétinés ou asphyxiés[2].

The National Stadium of Peru is a multi-purpose stadium located in Lima, Peru. Its current capacity is 40,086 seats as stated by the Peruvian Football Federation without the lodges for some thousands more.[1] The stadium was first inaugurated on 27 October 1952 for the 1953 South American Championship—replacing the Stadium Nacional—and is Peru's principal and national stadium. It has hosted three of the six South American Championship/Copa América football competitions held in Peru. It is referred to as the Coloso de José Díaz because of its proximity to a street of the same name. It is the home ground of the Peru national football team. The IPD (Peruvian Sport Institute)—a branch of the Ministry of Education—is the stadium's administrating entity. The stadium has undergone several renovations for tournaments such as the 2004 Copa América. The artificial turf was installed for the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship. It will probably be used at the 2021 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The most recent renovation started in 2010 and concluded in 2011. The re-inauguration ceremony of the renovated stadium was held on 24 July 2011 with a match between the Peru national under-20 football team and the Spain national under-20 football team.[es] Estadio Nacional del Perú
