In the 2017–18 season the club finished 6th in the Tercera División, Group 3.[3] The following season CD Cayón improved its position by finishing 4th.[4]

El Club Deportivo Cayón es uno de los clubes históricos de Cantabria. Fue fundado en 1945 y es uno de los clásicos equipos de Cantabria que ha disputado tradicionalmente la Tercera División española.
