Il club, istituito nel 2013, è frutto di una collaborazione tra South Durham, Cestria Girls e Università di Durham.[1] ed è l'unico club tra quelli iscritti ai maggiori livelli del campionato inglese di calcio femminile a non avere una controparte maschile.

Nella stagione 2018-2019 è iscritta alla FA Women's Championship, nuova denominazione del secondo livello del campionato inglese di categoria.
