Stade de la Maladière is a multi-purpose stadium in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Neuchâtel Xamax. The stadium holds 12,000. It replaced the old Stade de la Maladière.

History

The stadium opened in February 2007, with Neuchatel Xamax defeating La Chaux-de-Fonds by a scoreline of 3–2 in front of a sell-out crowd of 12,000 people.[1] The stadium complex was officially inaugurated in June 2007.[2] The complex includes a shopping mall underneath the stadium, a fire house, and six gymnasiums.[1] A small piece of the roof fell off in July 2007.[2]

The stadium has used a synthetic turf since its opening.[2] The turf was replaced in 2015.[3]

Portugal used the stadium as a training base for Euro 2008.[4]

The European Rugby headquarters moved to the stadium site in 2014.[5]

Das Stade de la Maladière ist ein Fussballstadion in Neuenburg in der Schweiz. Es war bis Ende Januar 2012 das Heimstadion des Konkurs gegangenen Schweizer Fussballvereins Neuchâtel Xamax, welcher bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt in der Super League spielte. Der Nachfolgeverein Neuchâtel Xamax 1912 wurde am 14. April 2012 offiziell vorgestellt.[1] Vorübergehend spielte ebenfalls der FC Biel-Bienne auf der Maladière, weil dem Stadion Gurzelen keine Lizenz ausgestellt wurde.[2] Das Stadion fasst maximal 12'500 Zuschauer und hat 10 Logen und 200 Business-Plätze. Es wurde 2007 fertiggestellt und kostete über 200 Mio. Franken. Es ersetzt das alte Stade de la Maladière, das 1924 gebaut wurde und 22’130 Zuschauer fasste.
