Background
Walsh attended Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, TN. . She represents the University of Virginia in NCAA Swimming. Walsh has a younger sister, Gretchen, who is also a competitive swimmer.[2]
Career
In 2019, she represented the United States at the Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru.[1] In total, she won three gold medals: two individual gold medals and the gold medal in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay.[1][3][4]
In 2021, she won the 200 meter individual medley at the US Olympic Swimming Trials, to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.[5] She went on to win a silver medal in the event at the Olympic Games, finishing in a time of 2:08.65, which was thirteen-hundredths of a second behind first-place finisher Yui Ohashi of Japan.[6][7]
At the 2022 US International Team Trials in Greensboro, North Carolina in April, Walsh qualified for the 2022 World Aquatics Championships team in the 4×200 meter freestyle relay, placing sixth in the final of the 200 meter freestyle with a 1:57.82, and the 200 meter individual medley, setting a new US Open record in the final of the event with her winning time of 2:07.84.[8][9][10]
