Biography
Born in Bartholomäberg, Montafon, Vorarlberg, Wachter won the World Cup overall title in 1993,[2] and the giant slalom title twice (1990 & 1994). She was the gold medalist in the combined at the 1988 Winter Olympics,[3] and won two silver medals in 1992 (combined and giant slalom). Wachter also won five medals at the World Championships; she represented Austria in three Olympics and eight World Championships.
Wachter retired from competition after the 2001 season with 19 World Cup wins (14 Giant Slalom, 2 Super G, 1 Slalom, 2 Combined), attained 76 podiums, and had 175 top ten finishes. She is living together with her longtime companion Rainer Salzgeber; they have two daughters.

Anita Wachter (verheiratete Anita Wachter-Salzgeber;[1] * 12. Februar 1967 in Schruns, Vorarlberg) ist eine ehemalige österreichische Skirennläuferin. Sie gehört zu den erfolgreichsten Athletinnen des ÖSV der späten 1980er und der 1990er Jahre. Wachter, ein Mitglied des Wintersportvereins Tschagguns, fuhr während 16 Jahren Rennen im Skiweltcup und gewann 19 Rennen, wobei sie vor allem in der Disziplin Riesenslalom erfolgreich war. Ihre größten Erfolge waren der Olympiasieg 1988 in der Kombination und der Gewinn der Gesamtweltcupwertung in der Saison 1992/93. Dazu kommen zwei Juniorenweltmeistertitel, zwei Silbermedaillen bei Olympischen Spielen sowie zwei Silber- und drei Bronzemedaillen bei Weltmeisterschaften.

Fu una delle atlete di punta della squadra austriaca nel periodo compreso tra la fine degli anni ottanta e gli anni novanta.
