Born in Gavrilov-Yam, Gavrilov began playing professional footballer with local side FC Shinnik Yaroslavl.[1] He spent his entire footballing career with Shinnik Yaroslavl, playing until age 38. After he retired, Gavrilov coached for Shinnik.[2]
