Samuel played four years of college soccer at Southern New Hampshire University between 2012 and 2015.[2]
While at college, Samuel played with Premier Development League side Seacoast United Phantoms in 2014,[3] and Sigma FC in 2015, where he scored two goals. Samuel was named the League1 Ontario defender of the year in 2015.[4]
After college, Samuel trialled with Major League Soccer club New England Revolution, but wasn't signed.[5] He instead joined the Rochester Rhinos in the American second-tier United Soccer League.[6]
In 2017, Samuel returned to Sigma FC, making 17 league appearances and scoring two goals.[7]
Samuel remained with Sigma for the 2018 season, making another 16 league appearances and scoring one goal.[8] At the end of the season, he was named to the league's First All-Star Team and named Defender of the Year for the second time.[9] While with Sigma, Samuel worked 10 hour weekday shifts in a lumberyard, before heading to trainings, and five hour shifts on weekend gamedays.[10]
On February 25, 2019, Samuel signed with Canadian Premier League side Forge FC.[11] While at the club, he won both the 2019 Canadian Premier League Finals and 2020 Canadian Premier League Final to become a two-time CPL champion.[12][13] In the 2021 season, Forge was not able to win a third championship, losing in the final to Pacific FC, but Samuel was a key component of Forge's league-best defensive record.[14]
On January 13, 2022, Samuel re-signed with Forge on a new multi-year contract.[15]
In April 2011 Samuel attended his first Canadian national team camp with the under-17 team, but was not called up for the subsequent 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship.[16]
