Thalmann previously played in the Serie A for Fiorentina and Torres Calcio Femminile,[2] the Bundesliga sides MSV Duisburg, Lokomotive Leipzig, 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam and Hamburger SV,[3] as well as for Rot-Schwarz Thun, FFC Zuchwil 05, SC LUwin.ch, Grasshopper Club and Servette FC Chênois Féminin the AXA Women's Super League.
Thalmann represents Switzerland since 2007.[4] Stenia Michel took over as Switzerland's first-choice goalkeeper in the run up to the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, when Thalmann suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.[5]
