Born in Novara to Ghanaian parents,[1] Tenkorang started playing football at grassroots club Santa Rita before entering the youth teams of Novara F.C. and then Pro Vercelli.[2] In the summer of 2015, he moved to Arminia Bielefeld, but returned to Italy just six months later, joining local side Romentinese, where he also made his debut for the senior team, aged sixteen, in the national sixth tier.[1][2]
In the summer of 2017, Romentinese officially formed a new club with fellow regional side Cerano, which had been competing in the fifth tier: Tenkorang stayed as part of the new squad and played one full season.[2]
In the summer of 2018, Tenkorang moved to Serie D side Lanusei, where he registered twenty-six appearances and two goals as the team narrowly missed promotion, after losing the play-off final against Avellino.[2][3]
On 30 July 2019, Joshua Tenkorang moved to fellow Serie D club Campobasso,[3] where he played for two seasons in the national fourth tier, eventually winning promotion to Serie C at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.[2]
After deciding to stay with the side for the 2021-22 season, on 26 September 2021 he scored his first professional goal during a home league match against Fidelis Andria. However, the action that led to his goal was immediately criticized by the visitors, who had asked to regain possession of the ball after an interruption of the match. As an act of fair play towards the opponents, Campobasso's manager Mirko Cudini ordered his team to let Fidelis Andria players score a goal, so they could restore their lead. Fidelis Andria eventually obtained a 1-3 win.[4] Tenkorang finished his first professional season with six goals and four assists in 32 matches, having helped Campobasso stay in the third tier.[2]
On 22 June 2022, Tenkorang joined Cremonese on a permanent deal, with the club having just sealed promotion back to Serie A after 26 years.[5] On 24 August 2022, Tenkorang was loaned out to Virtus Entella.[6]
Tenkorang has a twin brother, James, who is also a footballer; they played together in the same teams until 2019.[2]
He gained his high school diploma at the liceo "Alessandro Antonelli" in Novara.[5]
