Curuchet represented Argentina at the Summer Olympics in 1984, 1988, 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008.[2]

He won the madison at the 1999 Pan American Games with his older brother, Gabriel Ovidio Curuchet. He also won the madison at the 2003 Pan American Games and 2007 Pan American Games alongside Walter Pérez and the Cycling World Championships in 2004 (Men's Madison).

Curuchet holds an Argentine record of participating in six non-consecutive Olympic games. He closed his Olympic career at age 43, by winning the Men's Madison gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics with Walter Pérez.[3]

In 2008, he received the gold Gold Olimpia Award as the best athlete of the year from his country with Walter Pérez. In 2000 and 2010 he won the Platinum Konex Award as the best cyclist of the last decade in Argentina.

Juan Esteban Curuchet (* 4. Februar 1965 in Mar del Plata) ist ein argentinischer Bahn- und Straßenradrennfahrer. Ab Beginn der 1990er Jahre bis Ende der 2000er Jahre gehörte er zu den weltweit dominierenden Bahnradsportlern in den Disziplinen Punktefahren und Zweier-Mannschaftsfahren. 2008 wurde er Olympiasieger im Zweier-Mannschaftsfahren.

Juan Esteban Curuchet (n. en Mar del Plata, Argentina el 4 de febrero de 1965) es un ciclista argentino ganador de la medalla de oro en los Juegos Olímpicos de Pekín 2008 y del Campeonato Mundial de Ciclismo en Pista de 2004. Es el deportista argentino con mayor cantidad de participaciones en Juegos Olímpicos, habiendo actuado en seis de ellos: 1984, 1988, 1996, 2000, 2004 y 2008. Obtuvo también dos medallas de plata y ocho medallas de bronce en Campeonatos Mundiales. En Juegos Panamericanos, Juan obtuvo un total de cinco medallas, siendo tres de ellas de oro (en 1999, 2003 y 2007) y dos de plata (1983, 2003). En 2013 fue elegido como senador de la Provincia de Buenos Aires por el Frente para la Victoria.

Pour ses deux derniers types d'épreuves, il a fait équipes avec son frère Gabriel jusqu'en 2001, puis avec Edgardo Simón de 2000 à 2002. C'est ensuite avec Walter Pérez qu'il obtient ses meilleurs résultats. En 2004, ils sont sacrés champions du monde de l'américaine à Melbourne. En 2008, Juan Curuchet participe à 43 ans à ses sixièmes Jeux olympiques à Pékin et y remporte avec Perez la médaille d'or de l'américaine[1].
