Reginald George Pridmore MC (29 April 1886 in Edgbaston, Birmingham – 13 March 1918 near Venice, Italy) was a field hockey player,[1] who won the gold medal with the England team at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London.[2] Pridmore set an Olympic record for most goals scored by an individual in an Olympic final in Men's field hockey with his 4 goals in England's 8–1 victory. This record stood till the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where India's Balbir Singh Sr. scored 5 goals in India's 6–1 victory over the Netherlands.

Pridmore was also a cricketer, and played first-class cricket as a right-hand batsman for Warwickshire.[3]

Pridmore was killed in action, aged 31, during the First World War,[4] serving as a major with the Royal Field Artillery near the Piave River in Italy.[5] He was buried at the Giavera British Cemetery nearby.[6]

Reginald Pridmore, né le 29 avril 1886 à Birmingham et décédé le 13 mars 1918 à Venise en Italie, est un joueur de hockey sur gazon britannique. Lors des Jeux olympiques d'été de 1908 se tenant à Londres il remporte la médaille d'or pour la première apparition de ce sport au programme olympique. Compétition de laquelle il termine meilleur buteur avec dix réalisations en trois matchs. En marquant quatre buts lors de la victoire de l'Angleterre sur l’Écosse (8-1) il devient le joueur ayant marqué le plus de but dans un match du tournoi olympique. Son record a été battu en 1952 par l'indien Balbir Singh, Sr. qui marque cinq buts dans un match contre les Pays-Bas.
