Carrière

Il devient champion du monde des poids welters à trois reprises, le 22 juin 1915 contre Mike Glover puis le 24 avril 1916 et le 17 mars 1919, les deux fois face à l'anglais Ted Lewis. Britton réussit également la performance de détenir le titre de champion des États-Unis de cette catégorie entre 1918 et 1930, année de sa retraite sportive.

Distinction

• Jack Britton est membre de l'International Boxing Hall of Fame depuis 1990[1].

Jack Britton (geboren als William J. Breslin; * 14. Oktober 1885 in Clinton, New York; † 27. März 1962 in Miami) war dreimaliger Boxweltmeister im Weltergewicht. Brittons Karriere begann 1904 und dauerte 26 Jahre an. Er hält bis heute mit 37 Kämpfen den Rekord für die Anzahl an Weltmeisterschaftskämpfen. Die Meisten davon gegen seinen Erzrivalen Ted "Kid" Lewis.

Jack Britton (October 14, 1885 – March 27, 1962) was an American boxer who was the first three-time world welterweight boxing champion. Born William J. Breslin in Clinton, New York, his professional career lasted for 25 years beginning in 1905. He holds the world record for the number of title bouts fought in a career with 37 (18 of which ended in no decisions), many against his arch-rival Ted "Kid" Lewis, against whom he fought 20 times.[2] Statistical boxing website BoxRec lists Britton as the #6 ranked welterweight of all time while The Ring Magazine founder Nat Fleischer placed him at #3. He was inducted into the Ring Magazine Hall of Fame in 1960 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame as a first-class member in 1990.[3]
