Biografia


Nel corso della sua carriera ha giocato con Montreal Juniors (1977-1980), Chicago Blackhawks (1980-1990, 1995-1997), Montreal Canadiens (1990-1993) e Tampa Bay Lightning (1993-1995).

Per nove volte è stato scelto nell'NHL All-Star Games (1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1996).

Nel 2000 è stato inserito nella Hockey Hall of Fame.

Dalla stagione 2006/07 alla stagione 2008/09 ha allenato i Chicago Blackhawks.

Denis Joseph Savard (* 4. Februar 1961 in Pointe-Gatineau, Québec) ist ein ehemaliger kanadischer Eishockeyspieler und -trainer. Der Center absolvierte zwischen 1980 und 1997 fast 1200 Partien in der National Hockey League und verzeichnete dabei über 1300 Scorerpunkte. Den Großteil dieser Zeit verbrachte er bei den Chicago Blackhawks, bei denen er bis heute gültige Franchise-Rekorde aufstellte, die er als Mannschaftskapitän anführte und die seine Trikotnummer 18 nicht mehr vergeben. Darüber hinaus lief er in der NHL für die Canadiens de Montréal und die Tampa Bay Lightning auf, wobei er mit den Canadiens in den Playoffs 1993 den Stanley Cup gewann. Im Jahre 2000 wurde er in die Hockey Hall of Fame gewählt. Seine Trainerkarriere verbrachte Savard ausschließlich bei den Blackhawks und fungierte bei diesen von 2006 bis 2008 als Cheftrainer.

Denis Joseph Savard (born February 4, 1961) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1980 to 1997, and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000. In 2017 Savard was named one of the '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history.[1] Savard was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks and became the forefront of the team during the 1980s. He led the Blackhawks to the Conference Finals four times, losing each time, twice being to Gretzky's Edmonton Oilers. Savard is known for the spin' o rama move, a tactic in Hockey used to create distance between the puck carrier and opponent. Savard won one Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadiens in 1993. Savard also played with the Tampa Bay Lighting for two seasons before returning to the Chicago Blackhawks in 1994, and then retiring there in 1997. He has also served as head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL,[2] and now serves as an ambassador for the Blackhawks' organization. Savard was born in Gatineau, Quebec[citation needed], but grew up in Montreal.
