Mwandwe joined the Shrewsbury Town youth system in 2014,[2] making his professional debut whilst still a first-year scholar at the age of sixteen, as a last-minute substitute for Carlton Morris in a 3–0 victory against West Bromwich Albion U21s in an EFL Trophy group-stage match on 3 October 2017.[3]
He was given a first professional contract by Shrewsbury in May 2019.[4]
He was released by Shrewsbury on 11 June 2020.[5]
On 1 August 2019, Mwandwe joined Cymru Premier side Newtown on loan until January 2020.[6]
On 1 February 2021, Mwandwe returned to Newtown on a permanent deal follow his release from Shrewsbury.
On 13 July 2022, Mwandwe agreed a deal to join Canadian Premier League club HFX Wanderers for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal, with the move set to be completed following Newtown's UEFA Europa Conference League match the following day.[7] In his final game for the club, with his exit already publicly announced, Mwandwae scored in normal time in a 2–2 aggregate draw against Havnar Bóltfelag - then going on to score the winning penalty in the penalty shootout to send Newtown through to the next round.[8]
Signing midway through the 2022 season, Mwandwe made his debut for the Wanderers on 23 July 2022, in a match against FC Edmonton. Coming in as a substitute he made an immediate impact, creating chances and drawing a penalty which allowed Halifax to tie the match.[9]
In July 2018, he trained with the Zambia national under-20 team, his first experience of his parents' homeland in over a decade.[10]
Mwandwe was born in Greenwich, London to Zambian parents.[2][10]
