Personal life

Hülsenbeck married sprint canoer Frank Fischer, a nine-time canoe sprint world championship medalist,[3][4] in the early 1980s. Frank is the brother of 12-time Summer Olympic medalist Birgit, who competed from 1980 to 2004.[5] Frank and Sarina produced two children, Fanny (born 1986) and Falco, both canoers.

Fanny won a gold medal in the women's K-4 500 m event at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing[6] and has nine world championship medals of her own with three gold, four silvers, and two bronzes.[3][7]
